Louisville, Kentucky, tobacco trader, soldier, and agent. Kentucky native. Served in the U.S.-Mexican War. Tobacco trader in Louisville, Kentucky, in 1860. Served in the 6th Kentucky Volunteer Cavalry Regiment (C.S.A.) as a private. Captured at the Battle of Buffington Island in Meigs County, Ohio, on July 19, 1863. Prisoner of war at Camp Morton, Indianapolis, Indiana, from July 23, 1863, to August 18, 1863. Prisoner of war at Camp Douglas, Chicago, Illinois, from August 22, 1863, to February 21, 1865. Signed a loyalty oath to the U. S. government on July 14, 1865. Agent of the Commonwealth of Kentucky in the requisition of Ben Johnson in 1865.
