Father of Mary Tifft, Elizabeth Tifft, Scott D. Tifft, Kate Tifft, and Annie Tifft. Painter in 1845. Served in the 3rd United States Light Artillery (U.S.A.) as a captain from September 10, 1845, to September 10, 1850. Painter in Campbell County, Kentucky, in 1860. Served in the 23rd Kentucky Volunteer Infantry Regiment (U.S.A.) as a first lieutenant and captain from December 8, 1861, to October 17, 1864. Discharged on account of disability on October 17, 1864. Charged with with a felony in Campbell County in 1864. Fugitive from justice in Wisconsin in 1864.
