Wisconsin associate justice and judge. Carlisle, Pennsylvania, native. Married to Caroline Miller. Father of Caroline E. Miller, John M. Miller, and Mary Alice Miller. Educated at Dickinson College. Graduated from Washington College in 1819. Studied law in 1822. Attorney in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, from 1822 to 1838. Deputy attorney general for Adams County, Pennsylvania. Associate justice of the Supreme Court of the Wisconsin Territory from 1838 to 1848. Judge for the U.S. District Court of Wisconsin from 1848 to 1870.
