Franklin County, Kentucky, soldier. Franklin County native. Son of Benjamin S. Newton and Georgia Ann Church Newton. Resident of Franklin County, Kentucky, in 1850. Student in Franklin County in 1860. Served in the 9th Kentucky Volunteer Cavalry Regiment (U.S.A.) as a private from August 22, 1862, to September 11, 1863.
