Maysville, Mason County, Kentucky, mason's apprentice, drummer, and soldier. Kentucky native. Son of William H. Darnall and Margarett G. Darnall. Married to Virginia Cargill Darnall in Kenton County on September 13, 1864. Student in Mason County in 1850. Mason’s apprentice in Maysville in 1860. Served as a drummer and private in the 2nd Kentucky Volunteer Infantry Regiment (U.S.A.) from June 11, 1861, to December 14, 1862. Transferred to the 4th United States Regular Artillery on December 14, 1862. Discharged from service on June 11, 1864, as first sergeant.
