Todd County, Kentucky, clerk and soldier. Kentucky native. Son of Matthew and Jane Thompson. Student in Todd County in 1850. Clerk in Todd County in 1860. Served in 2nd Kentucky Cavalry (C.S.A.) as private from 1861 to 1864. Captured near Cleveland, Tennessee on November 24, 1863. Appeared on a register of prisoners of war leaving the Military Prison, Louisville, Kentucky, for Rock Island Barracks, Illinois, on December 11, 1863. Died of smallpox on March 3, 1864.
