Armorer at the State Arsenal in Frankfort in 1860. Served in the Frankfort Union Guards (U.S.A.) as a private from July 11, 1862, to August 1, 1862. Served in the 36th Enrolled Militia of the Commonwealth of Kentucky (U.S.A.) as a sergeant from June 8, 1864, to June 18, 1864. Served in the Capital Guard Regiment (U.S.A.) as a captain from July 1, 1864, to January 12, 1865. Wounded at the Battle of Frankfort in June 1864.
