Jefferson County, Kentucky, china store owner and soldier. Virginia native. Married to Delia Luckett Hooe. Owner of china store with brother, Alfred L. Hooe, in Louisville in 1860. Employed James B. Lee as a clerk in 1860. Member of the convention of the provisional government held at Russellville in November 1861. Served in the 6th (Gould's) Battalion of the Texas Cavalry (C.S.A.) as a volunteer aide-de-camp and captain from April 6, 1862, to April 1865. Prisoner of war in 1865. Paroled on June 4, 1865.
