Father of Eliza Jane Rice, Ida Rice, Ada Rice, James William Rice, and John M. Rice, Jr. Law student in Lawrence County, Kentucky, in 1850. Household owned fourteen enslaved persons in Lawrence County in 1850. Graduated from the Law Department of the University of Louisville. Member of the House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Kentucky from Pike County from 1859 to 1861. Attorney in Pike County in 1860. Owned one enslaved person in Pike County in 1860.
