Adair County, Kentucky, carpenter and soldier. Kentucky native. Son of Rolly Chapman and Priscilla Chapman. Married to Sally Chapman. Father of Lucy J. Chapman, Samuel T. Chapman, William Louis Chapman, John Chapman, Kate Chapman, and James Toby Chapman. Laborer in Clinton County, Kentucky, in 1850. Carpenter in Russell County in 1860. Served in the 32nd Kentucky Volunteer Infantry (U.S.A.) as captain and first lieutenant from April 15, 1863, to December 1863. Served in 13th Kentucky Volunteer Cavalry (U.S.A.) as second lieutenant and first lieutenant from December 23, 1863 to January 10, 1865.
