Grainger County, Tennessee, farmer and soldier. Tennessee native. Son of Thomas Blackburn and Mary "Polly" Blackburn. Married to Rebecca Blackburn. Father of Rosana S. Blackburn and Jemima Blackburn. Farmer, with his father, Thomas Blackburn, and brother, James C. Blackburn, in Grainger County, Tennessee, in 1850. Farm laborer in Grainger County in 1860. Served in the 12th Tennessee Volunteer Cavalry Regiment (U.S.A.) as a corporal from July 8, 1863, to October 7, 1865.
