Kansas Territory physician and soldier. Virginia native. Married to Frances H. Swisher and Isadora J. Swisher. Father of Linneus V. Swisher. Physician in Breckenridge County, Kansas Territory, in 1860. Served in the 2nd Ohio Volunteer Cavalry Regiment (U.S.A.) as a private, sergeant and regimental hospital steward from October 8, 1862, to November 28, 1863. Served in the 49th Kentucky Volunteer Infantry Regiment (U.S.A.) as assistant surgeon from November 28, 1863, to December 26, 1864.
