Cincinnati, Ohio, farmer and soldier. Native of Canada. Married to Alice Wheeler. Father of William E. Wheeler and Samuel J. Wheeler. Farmer in Cincinnati in 1860. Served in the 1st Kentucky Volunteer Infantry Regiment (U.S.A.) as captain from April 29, 1861, to June 15, 1862. Reported as deserted on June 15, 1862. Resigned from service on October 13, 1862.
