Served in the 79th Pennsylvania Infantry (U.S.A.) as private and hospital steward from February 23, 1862. Served in the 9th Kentucky Volunteer Infantry Regiment (U.S.A.) as assistant surgeon from January 19, 1863, to April 16, 1863.
