Decatur County, Indiana, millwright and soldier. New York native. Married to Martha J. Wilder. Father of Mary Wilder and Rachel Wilder. Millwright in Decatur County, Indiana, in 1860. Employed Kate Snell as a domestic worker in Decatur County in 1860. Served in the 26th Battery of Indiana Light Artillery (U.S.A.) as colonel from June 12, 1861, to August 7, 1864. Served in the 17th Indiana Volunteer Infantry Regiment as brigadier general from August 7, 1864, to October 5, 1864.
