Knox County, Kentucky, clerk and soldier. Kentucky native. Son of George Madison Adams and Amelia White Adams. Student in Barbourville, Kentucky, in 1850. Household owned ten enslaved persons in Barbourville in 1850. Clerk in Barbourville in 1860. Served in the 7th Kentucky Volunteer Infantry Regiment (U.S.A.) as first lieutenant, sergeant major, adjutant, and major from September 22, 1861, to August 5, 1863.
