Served in the 22nd Kentucky Volunteer Infantry Regiment (U.S.A.) as private and corporal from December 12, 1861. Reported as deserted from Grayson County, Kentucky, on October 1, 1862. Sentenced by court martial and transferred to the 7th Kentucky Volunteer Infantry Regiment (U.S.A.), serving as private until February 27, 1865.
