Adair County, Kentucky, merchant and soldier. Kentucky native. Son of Eli Wheat and Elizabeth Wheat. Married to Sophia Palmer Wheat in Jefferson County, Kentucky, on June 25, 1863. Father of Palmer Wheat. Student in Adair County in 1850. Merchant in Adair County in 1860. Served in the 9th Regiment Kentucky Infantry (U.S.A.) as captain from November 16, 1861, to December 15, 1864.
