Apprentice ship carpenter in Louisville in 1860. Tobacconist in Louisville in 1864. Served in the 28th Kentucky Infantry Regiment (U.S.A.) as a private and corporal from January 23, 1862 to April 10, 1862. Reported as deserted from Louisville, Kentucky, on April 10, 1862. Served in the 1st Kentucky Light Artillery (U.S.A.) as a private and sergeant from September 10, 1863 to July 26, 1865. Reported as deserted from Louisville in September 1863.
