Served in the 25th Kentucky Volunteer Infantry Regiment (U.S.A.) as sergeant and first sergeant from January 1, 1862, to April 13, 1862. Served in the 17th Kentucky Volunteer Infantry Regiment (U.S.A.) as first sergeant and first lieutenant from September 29, 1862. Died at the Battle of Chickamauga in north Georgia on September 19, 1863.
