Caldwell County, Kentucky, merchant and soldier. Caldwell County, Kentucky, native. Son of D. W. McGoodwin and Susan B. McGoodwin. Student in Caldwell County, Kentucky, in 1850. Household owned six enslaved persons in Caldwell County in 1850. Dry goods merchant in Princeton in 1860. Household owned seven enslaved persons in Princeton in 1860. Served in the 3rd Kentucky Mounted Infantry Regiment (C.S.A.) as a first lieutenant, adjutant, and captain from July 10, 1861, to May 14, 1865. Captured at Paducah on March 25, 1864. Signed a parole of honor as a prisoner of war for loyalty to the United States of America on May 14, 1865.
