Lyon County, Kentucky, blacksmith and soldier. Native of Scotland. Married to Elizabeth Dix McCrea in Lyon County, Kentucky, on April 22, 1856. Father of William McCrea, Andrew McCrea, and James A. McCrea. Master blacksmith in Lyon County in 1860. Served in the 15th Kentucky Volunteer Cavalry Regiment (U.S.A.) as a farrier and blacksmith from March 11, 1863, to October 6, 1863.
