Caldwell County, Kentucky, carpenter and soldier. Kentucky native. Son of Charity Purdy. Resident in Caldwell County, Kentucky, in 1850. Carpenter in Princeton in 1860. Household owned one enslaved person in Princeton in 1860. Served in the 3rd Kentucky Mounted Infantry (C.S.A.) as a private from July 10, 1861 to April 15, 1864. Reported as deserted from Princeton on April 8, 1864. Prisoner of war at Louisville Military Prison. Signed a loyalty oath to the U. S. government on April 15, 1864.
