Hopkins County, Kentucky, schoolteacher and soldier. Kentucky native. Son of William Hibbs and Maria F. Hibbs. Student in Hopkins County in 1850. Schoolteacher in Hopkins County in 1860. Served in the 25th Kentucky Volunteer Infantry Regiment (U.S.A.) as a second lieutenant from January 1, 1862.
