Student in Hopkins County in 1850. Farm laborer in Hopkins County in 1860. Served in the 25th Kentucky Volunteer Infantry Regiment (U.S.A.) as a private. Reported as deserted at Shiloh, Tennessee, on May 1, 1862. Served in the 17th Kentucky Volunteer Cavalry Regiment (U.S.A.) as a private from December 3, 1864, to September 20, 1865.
