Hopkins County, Kentucky, carpenter and soldier. Kentucky native. Son of Phillip Simons. Student in Hopkins County, Kentucky, in 1850. Carpenter in Madisonville in 1860. Served in the 8th Kentucky Volunteer Cavalry Regiment (U.S.A.) as a private from September 3, 1862, to September 23, 1863. Served in the 17th Kentucky Volunteer Cavalry Regiment (U.S.A.) as a private and sergeant from January 3, 1865, to September 20, 1865.
