Brick molder in Louisville in 1860. Served in the 2nd Kentucky Volunteer Infantry Regiment (U.S.A.) as a corporal and private from June 13, 1861. Reported as deserted in June 1862. Returned from desertion in August 1863. Reported as deserted in September 1863. Arrested for desertion on April 8, 1864. Served in the 34th Kentucky Volunteer Infantry Regiment (U.S.A.), also known as the Louisville Provost Guard, from September 20, 1862. Reported as under arrest by Louisville authorities in November 1862. Reported as deserted in Nashville, Tennessee, in April 1863. Served in the 4th Kentucky Volunteer Cavalry Regiment (U.S.A.) as a private from April 25, 1863 to October 1863. Court martialed for desertion and dishonorably discharged. Served in the 6th Kentucky Volunteer Cavalry Regiment (U.S.A) as a private from February 11, 1864 to February 1865. Reported as deserted in February 1865.
