Lexington, Fayette County, Kentucky, clerk and soldier. Kentucky native. Son of Gavin Drummond Hunt and Letitia Hunt. Resident in Fayette County, Kentucky, in 1850. Household owned eighteen enslaved persons in Fayette County in 1850. Clerk in Lexington in 1860. Household owned eighteen enslaved persons in Lexington in 1860. Served in the 4th Kentucky Volunteer Infantry Regiment (U.S.A.) as a major and lieutenant colonel from October 9, 1861 to April 13, 1864. Resigned from service because of wounds received at the Battle of Chickamauga.
