Lewis County, Kentucky, farmer and soldier. Greenup County, Kentucky, native. Son of George Dummitt and Eliza Dummitt. Resident of Greenup County, Kentucky, in 1850. Resident of Lewis County in 1860.Served in the 16th Kentucky Volunteer Infantry Regiment (U.S.A.) as a private from January 9, 1862 to August 18, 1862. Reported as deserted from Bowling Green on August 18, 1862. Served in the 45th Kentucky Volunteer Infantry Regiment (U.S.A.) as a private from October 18, 1863 and February 23, 1864. Arrested as a deserter in 1864. Returned to service with 16th Kentucky Volunteer Infantry (U.S.A.) as a private from September 1864 to July 25, 1865.
