Warren County, Kentucky, soldier. Kentucky native. Son of Atwood G. Hobson and Juliet Hobson. Resident of Warren County in 1850. Household owned five enslaved persons in Warren County in 1850. Resident of Warren County in 1860. Household owned twenty-one enslaved persons in Warren County in 1860. Served in the 13th Kentucky Volunteer Infantry Regiment (U.S.A.) as a major, lieutenant colonel, and colonel from January 1, 1862 to January 12, 1865. Commanded a brigade in the XXIII Corps of the Union Army.
