Christian County, Kentucky, soldier. Tennessee native. Son of N. H. Boyd and E. Boyd. Resident of Christian County, Kentucky, in 1860. Served in the 25th Kentucky Volunteer Infantry Regiment (U.S.A.) as second lieutenant from November 13, 1861 to April 15, 1862. Resigned April 15, 1862. Served in the 8th Kentucky Volunteer Cavalry Regiment (U.S.A.) as a second lieutenant from September 6, 1862 to February 7, 1863. Resigned February 7, 1863. Served in the Frankfort Battalion of Kentucky State Troops (U.S.A.) as a first lieutenant and captain from February 24, 1865 to August 9, 1865. Mustered out August 9, 1865.
