Jefferson County, Kentucky, book binder's apprentice and soldier. Ohio native. Son of Frances Watson. Book binder's apprentice in Jefferson County in 1860. Served in the Provost Guard of Louisville (U.S.A.) as a private and musician from October 3, 1861 to October 3, 1862. Mustered out on October 3, 1862. Served in the 34th Kentucky Volunteer Infantry (U.S.A.) as a private and musician from May 2, 1863 to February 7, 1864. Court martialed and sentenced to labor on fortifications in October 1863. Returned to duty in January 1864. Transferred with company on February 7, 1864. Served in the 5th Kentucky Volunteer Cavalry (U.S.A.) as a private and musician from February 7, 1864 to July 16, 1865. Mustered out on July 16, 1865.
