Carroll County, Kentucky, farmer and soldier. Carroll County, Kentucky, native. Son of Stephen Lewis and Malinda Lewis. Married to Mary A. Butts in Carroll County in May 1865. Attended school in Carroll County in 1850. Farmer in Carrol County in 1860. Served in the 13th Kentucky Volunteer Infantry Regiment (U.S.A.) as a private from December 31, 1861 to May 17, 1864. Wounded at the Battle of Campbell's Station, Knox County, Tennessee, on November 16, 1863. Discharged on account of disability on May 17, 1864.
