Married to Mary Bell Russell Patteson in Adair County, Kentucky, on May 4, 1865. Farmer in Adair County in 1850. Farmer in Adair County in 1860. Served in the 13th Kentucky Volunteer Infantry Regiment (U.S.A.) as a sergeant and captain from December 31, 1861 to January 12, 1865. Wounded at the Battle of Resaca, Gordon County, Georgia, on May 14, 1864.
