Rock County, Wisconsin, chemist and soldier. Native of Novia Scotia. Son of Peter Bigney and Margaret Bigney. Resident of Middlesex County, Massachusetts, in 1850. Chemist in Rock County, Wisconsin, in 1860. Medical student at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Michigan, in 1861. Served in the 13th Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry Regiment (U.S.A.) as a major from October 10, 1861 to November 24, 1864. Served as post commander at Smithland, Livingston County, Kentucky.
