Laborer in Campbell County, Kentucky, in 1850. Merchant in Dearborn County, Indiana, in 1860. Member of the Democratic Party. Mayor of Aurora, Dearborn County, Indiana, from 1861 to 1862. Served in the 11th Kentucky Cavalry Regiment (U.S.A.) as a captain and major from September 22, 1862 to December 18, 1864. Captured at the Battle of Hartsville, Trousdale County, Tennessee on December 7, 1862. Paroled on December 9, 1862.
