Garrard County, Kentucky, resident and soldier. Kentucky native. Son of Jeremiah Pierce and Eveline Pierce. Attended school in Garrard County, Kentucky, in 1850. Household owned eight enslaved persons in Garrard County in 1850. Resident of Garrard County in 1860. Household owned five enslaved persons in 1860. Served in the 11th Kentucky Volunteer Cavalry Regiment (U.S.A.) as a second sergeant, first lieutenant, adjutant, and captain from September 22, 1862 to August 23, 1864. Captured in Blount County, Tennessee, on November 14, 1863. Prisoner of war from November 14, 1863 to April 30, 1864. Paroled on April 30, 1864. Served in the 12th Kentucky Volunteer Cavalry Regiment (U.S.A.) as a captain from August 7, 1864, to August 23, 1865.
