Served in the 11th Kentucky Volunteer Cavalry Regiment (U.S.A.) as a private and sergeant from September 22, 1862 to March 19, 1863. Discharged on March 19, 1863, on account of disability. Served in the 53rd Kentucky Volunteer Infantry Regiment (U.S.A.) as a second lieutenant from November 25, 1864 to September 20, 1865.
