Louisville, Kentucky, student and soldier. Kentucky native. Son of John C. Arnold and Sarah A. Arnold. Resident of Louisville, Kentucky, in 1850. Attended school in Louisville in 1860. Served in the 11th Kentucky Volunteer Cavalry Regiment (U.S.A.) as a private and a corporal from September 22, 1862 to July 14, 1865. Captured in Blount County, Tennessee, on November 14, 1863. Prisoner of war in Richmond, Virginia from December 1, 1863 to March 4, 1864. Prisoner of war at Andersonville Prison, in Sumter County, Georgia from March 1864 to March 27, 1865.
