Governing body of Transylvania University. Established by the general assembly of the Commonwealth of Virginia with thirteen appointed trustees in what became Boyle County, Kentucky, in 1780. First meeting with Chairman David Rice and 24 other trustees in 1783. Relocated to Lexington, Kentucky, in 1789. The board of trustees agreed to convey all property and funds to Kentucky University on the merger of the two universities, and the board of trustees were dissolved following Transylvania University's discontinuation on June 9, 1865.
