I write you at the request of some friends of Major Jno. W. Jordan who is now engaged in organizing a regiment of Kentucky Vols. at Covington Ky. He was Major of the 57th Inda for over a year, and is a good drill officer as well as an excellent disciplinarian, and was very popular in the regiment, they having made him a valuable present just previous to his resignation
