Covington, Kenton County, Kentucky, attorney and politician. Richmond, Virginia, native. Son of Andrew Stevenson and Mary White Stevenson. Attended Hampden-Sidney Academy. Graduate of the University of Virginia in 1834. Attorney in Vicksburg, Mississippi. Moved to Covington, Kentucky in 1841. Married to Sibella Winston Stevenson in 1843. Father of Mary Winston Stevenson, Sally Coles Stevenson, Samuel W. Stevenson, Andrew Stevenson, Judith Stevenson, and John White Stevenson. Member of the House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Kentucky from Kenton County from 1845 to 1849 and from 1857 to 1861. Delegate to the 1849 Kentucky Constitutional Convention. Attorney in Covington in 1850. Appointed as a commissioner to revise the Civil and Criminal Code of Kentucky from 1850 to 1851. Democratic Party presidential elector in 1852 and 1856. Attorney in Covington in 1860. Employed Gabriel Standafer as a servant in Covington in 1860.
