To his Excellency Beriah Magoffin Governor of Kentucky
We the undersigned Citizens of Covington Kenton County Ky would represent to your Excellency that the office of Justice of the Peace for the 1st district of Covington has become vacant by the removal of John G Schrock Esq from the City and we would recommend James B Gray as a fit person to fill said vacancy.

At a meeting held this morning in the Mayors office in this city It was unanimously agreed to recommend James B Gray as a suitable person to fill the office of Justice of the peace in the 1st district in said City in place of John G Shrock Removed to Lexington Ky. I acted as chairman of the meeting and would be pleased to have Gray appointed as he is all right
