Dear Sir,

I take this occasion to write you in favor of Capt. A. S. Bloome who has been & now is recruiting for the 2d Ky. Heavy Artillery — I hope whatever of influence that can be used towards officering this Regiment on the part of the Executive & adgt. gen^l will be thrown in favor of Capt. Bloome for the Lt. Colonelcy. He is an efficient energetic, and faithful Officer, and is now working hard, and spending his money lavishly for the success of this Regt. His Company is about full, and he is at work for an other — I hope any men you may be able to throw to him will be done —
