I have bineen in the servis of the United States for more then 18 months and Since ^the^ ~~that~~ time I first Enlisted I was Elected to the office of second Lieutaenant in ^the^ 25the Regiment of Ky vol and on the account of my helth not being Sufficiant to remain in the servis I Resgined the office.

I come home and after my health Recruited some I Raised a potion of a nother compney and accepted ~~they~~ the Position of the office again in 8th Ky cavelrary, and I had to Rezine a gain on the same core.

I have Recruited my helth again and wish Parmition to Rase a nother companey, for the state Servis I can get the men
very quick for the defence of the State the of most of them have bin in the state servis and are anctious to go in a gain and they wish me to Rais a company I hope you will not hesitate to give me purmission to Rais the co if it is your Power, which I hope it is by this time if it is not at this ^time^ pleas let me Know as soon as you have the Power. I am very antious to go in the servis for the state But I do not think I am able to go in the united sattates servis I do not no when I will be subject to the Draft or not pleas write me word, I want if I can go in to cavelary servis for the state, Youres most obediant
