We the undersigned citizens of Webster County would respectfully represent to your excellency that on the 31^st day of August 1863 an execution issued against N N Johnson late Sheriff of Webster County for the sum of $3348.⁰¹/₁₀₀ amount of revenue due for the year 1861 with interest and the sum of $669.⁶⁰ damages, & Eight & ⁵/₁₀₀ dollars costs Upon this execution Mr Johnson has paid the sum of $3129.¹⁰/₁₀₀ which you will perceive is nearly the amount of revenue due for that year, ^Oct 17^th 1863^ the balance having been paid during the year 1862, ^except $873 ⁰⁰/₁₀₀ the sheriff of Henderson county^. Now in view of the difficulties under which we know Mr Johnson laboured in the collection of the revenue for that year, we would respectfully ask your Excellency to remit the aforesaid damages or so much thereof as by law you are authorized to do
