My Dear Sir Some Twelve months since one of our trustees in default of Bail Committed two females to the Jail of Lincoln County for a breach of the peace; after they had remained in Jail some two months the one pregnant and the other diseased the relatives applied to myself and our Jailer Robert White to bail them which we did, they failed to appear at court recognizance was — forfeited and Jugement went against White on his bond for $50 — and myself on my bond for $100 — and fifa issued in hands of sheriff & now about return day — We applied to Mld Ously who says he will remit his part of fine, and we candidly
submit to your Excelley that it is a cause deserving your Clemency in this that no Crime had been committed by the females, only a Small fight,, and we are both unable to spare the sum of mony adjuged against us in the causes, we Earnestly beg — therefore that you will remit each of said Jugements so far as the court has interest in them if you remit have the kindness to forward immediately as we are very pressed by our sheriff. One of the causes is the Comth, v, Catherin Delaney Jugement March Term, 1864 in which I am the Surety — Case of R Whites is the Comth, v, Mary & Martha Grady Jugemt for $50 at the Same term

I remember the cases refered to in the above Petition, the females were poor
abandoned creatures whom all desired released from Jail and the cases are such as in my Jugement deserves your clemecy — I beg therefore that you remit the comth part of said judgements and oblige.
