To His Excellency Gov Bramlette, Governor of Kentucky

Your petitioner would humbly represent that on the 17^th of December 1864 he was fined by the Police Judge of the City of Frankfort on his own confession in his Court holden the day and year aforesaid in the City of Frankfort, the sum of Twenty five dollars — He further states that these were the circumstances, to-wit: Your Petitioner had been drinking with his friend John Hancock a citizen of Frankfort and a worthy man with a family of children to support — the said Hancock was overtaken with the liquor he had drunk — The City Marshall came up and had the said Hancock under arrest without the knowledge of your Petitioner, who was endeavoring to return the said Hancock to his family, Your Petitioner entreated the City Marshall to release him and he would take him home — and in his zeal for his friend, somewhat hightened no doubt by the liquor he had drunk, your Petitioner may have acted imprudently — Your Petitioner was parrested the next day by warrant for resisting the lawful authorities Your Petitioner was surprised and deeply regreted the matter and under this sense of his imprudence and utter ignorance of his having done any wrong, as also his deep mortification over the whole affair — Your Petitioner unwilling that the Public should know him as a disturber of the Peace and good order of his native City Confessed Judgment. Your Petitioner would therefore humbly crave Your Excellency's exercise of Clemency — and asks for the remittal of said fine —
