To His Excellency, Thos. E Bramlette Governor of Kentucky;

Your petitioner, Robert Gibbs, states that about the 30^th day of June, 1865, he was fined $15 and costs in the Police Court of Harrodsburg on a charge of a breach of the peace in fighting with one William Gallaher — He states that at the trial there was no ^positive^ testimony as to how the fight Commenced or who Commenced it; it was impossible to get ^direct^ testimony on this point as no one Saw the origin of the fight, though what testimony there was on that point went to Show that the fight was Commenced by William Gallaher — Petitioner States Solemnly on oath that he did not commence the fight; that it was commenced by the Said William Gallaher and that Your petitioner used only Sufficient force to repel the attack made on him — He says the Said fine was replevined by him, and unless the said fine is remitted execution will issue in a few days and your petitioner will be compelled to pay it — Wherefore petitioner asks Your Excellency to remit
said fine — He says the foregoing statements are true —

John G. Kyle States that he was the town attorney who prosecuted the petitioner, Robt. Gibbs, in the police Court When he was fined as stated by him — He states that he believes the statements of the said Gibbs petition are true and that in his opinion it is a meritourious Case for Excecutive clemency.
