To his Honor Thomas E. Bramlette
Governor of the Commonwealth of Kentucky

Your Petitioner would respectfully represent that on the 22^nd day of May 1865 himself together with ^George Brookston^ Merril Sweeney & John N. [Gusline], entered into a recognizance in the Circuit Court of Jefferson County in the sum of Five Hundred dollars. for the appearance of one Joseph Mullens who was charged with felony, and that at that ^time^ the said Mullens was informed that the Court met again in Octo at which time he was to appear, when in truth and in fact the Court met on the 4^th day of September 1865 and in consequence of the misunderstanding the said Mullens did not appear on the said 4^th day of Sept. 1865, when the Court ordered a forfeiture of said recognizance, and the said Mullens having heard of the session of the Court immediately on the next day towit Sept. 5 1865 appeared before said Court and
surrendered himself into Custody, thereby not intending to evade his trial, or in any manner evade or violate the law,

that on the 7^th day of Sept 1865~~he ga~~ the said Mullens gave a new bond with W. H. Mays as security.

The Commonwealth has sustained no damage, the law has not been intentionally violated, and no wrong committed in the [...] Wherefore he prays for himself and his Co sureties to be fully released and therefore asks a full remission &c
